warm heating but not hot

warm heating but not hot

Postby Sandro on 07 Jan 2010 18:27

I dunno if its just cos i drive a hundred year old car or whether theres something wrong.

If i stick my heaters to full and have the blowers at 1 you can feel the warm air, but turns the fans to 2 or 3 and it goes cold. And even it 1 its hardly hot its just kinda warm.

Anyone had this before? is it my matrix or something else?

Cheers

Sounds like it may be the matrix. Either that or the flap that closes over to only direct hot air isn't workin properly so when it's on 1 it will draw warm air, but when the flow is higher it'll draw more cold air in

It might be the flap as Dave says as I'm pretty sure when the matrix went on my mk2 I didn't get any warm air at all.

Yep think so. Mind you it's a long time since I had my mk2. Should be controlled by a wire attached to the cold/hot slider. You would be able to hear it close as you move the slider across

Does it change depending on where you direct the air. i.e winsdcreen or feet?

more warm air tends to come from the "face" vents, not much seems to go to the feet and the windscreen is pretty cold air.

i'll try and take a look at it when i get sometime.

cheers

By-pass valves gunked up or Matrix needing a clean out......reverse the heater hoses and remove the by-pass valves then see if that works.
